Week 29, PoD Block

I finished the final Project of Doom block today.  It is the potion bottle block.

Here are all the blocks together.  I will be moving them around the next several days until I find the best arrangement for them.

I started this project back in January and managed to do one block a week, without missing any weeks.  That is a major accomplishment for me!

Second End of the Rainbow

I just got my second End of the Rainbow top sewn together.  This time I used red and blue instead of purple and aqua.  The rest of the colors are the same as the first.  I liked making the quilt the first time.  This time it felt like a chore.  I still don't feel much like sewing, I'm just trying to whittle down my UFOs.

This quilt is 74"x 74".

Stash Report:
Used this week: 4.5 yards (End of the Rainbow top)
Used YTD: 45.5 yards
Added this week: 3.75 yards (for mystery)
Added YTD: 47.75 yards
Net:  +2.0 yards

Twilter Round Robin, Quilted and Bound

About 6 years ago, I participated in a round robin with a group called the Twilters ( quilters who tweet).  I never used Twitter very much, but I still joined the group.  My round robin started out as a 12 inch block.  The fun part about a round robin is you never know what the finished quilt is going to look like.  If you have very strong opinions about how you want your round robin to look, you should probably just do it yourself.  Round robins are all about letting go of creative control.

I decided I wanted a neutral quilt, using fabrics that weren't on the color wheel.  Each person in the group added a round to the quilt. Tami Knox did the next round, followed by Tina Rose, Daisy Fredericks, Darla McFarren and Diane Rincan.  Each of these women also sent out a center block, so I worked on their quilts too.  My quilt came back years ago, but it just sat until I decided to add a couple of borders to make it a more usable size.

Here's my finished quilt.

Denise Zapf of Quilting Mojo did the custom longarming.  Denise is also a Twilter.  I found her originally in the Twilter Facebook group, and she has done many other quilts for me.

The backing is a William Morris print. I love the giant scale of the leaves.

This quilt is 64" square.

Stash Usage:
Used this week: 3.375 yards
Used YTD: 41.0 yards
Added this week: 0 yards
Added YTD: 44.0 yards

One Nation Finished!

I am pleased to report that One Nation is done!  I put the last stitch in last night.  This is a big project since it was stitched on 28 count linen. It is  28" x 15", and will cost a fortune to frame.  It will have to wait a while.

I am happy with my straight stitched stars now and would recommend them to anyone who has finished the strips and can't bear the thought of cross stitching 50 stars.

Thanks to the SAL, I was able to stick with this project until it was done.  To see what others in the group are stitching:    Avis, Claire, Gun, Carole, Sue, Constanze, Christina, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Heidi, Jackie, Sunny, Hayley, Megan, Deborah, Mary Margaret, Renee, Carmela, Sharon, Daisy, Anne, Connie, AJ, Jenny, Laura, Cathie, Linda, Helen

Week 26, PoD Block

This week's block is the Howler.

I've also been working on my second End of the Rainbow quilt.  Here is the first:

I have  2/3 of the blocks done already.  This next quilt will have red instead of purple since I'm about out of purple scraps.
