Mark's Star Quilt, Blogger's Quilt Festival Entry

This is a 'company' quilt.  I put it on my son's bed when we have overnight guests.  My son doesn't get to use it because the dog sleeps in his room, and the dog has occasionally chewed on a quilt.  I don't want this quilt damaged because I really like it.

I chose the combination of blue and orange when I saw a man dressed in a blue oxford cloth shirt and a bright orange tie.  The colors were so pretty together, I had to try it in a quilt.  After I made the blocks, though, the quilt looked sort of dead.  Then I added the yellow, and the whole thing magically worked.  I've only made one 2-color quilt that I really liked.  My 2-color quilts usually end up getting an accent color added towards the end of the piecing.

This quilt is 88x88 inches and includes all kinds of fabrics from batiks to 30's repros.  I didn't worry about the style of fabric, just the color of it.
It was professionally quilted (pantograph) by A Needle Runs Through It.

You're right about the yellow. The bright little yellow blocks in my entry (#127) really make that whole quilt come together as well. You did a beautiful job on this quilt, can understand why the dog is not allowed anywhere near it!
