While I was waiting for cross stitch fabric to come for my next project, I started a wool kit that I bought a few years ago, Primitive Gatherings' Old Crow & Company table runner. Because I have only done one other wool project, I made sure to follow all the instructions in the kit, including using Lite Steam-a-Seam 2 fusible web to adhere the wool pieces. Big mistake!!! Now as I sew through the wool, I am also sewing through the Steam-a-Seam, and my needle gets sticky. There is no going back now, but I am not enjoying this project.
I have finished most of the stitching on one end of the runner. Now I need to find a good way to mark the other vines. Since the wool is black, there is no way to trace them, and my free handing of them isn't great.

Your pumpkins are darling! I have not worked with wool. However, I embroider around appliqued hearts on a quilt. I used Therm-o-web's HeatnBond Lite. It was years ago now, but I don't remember it making the needle too sticky.
Try pressing all the fused pieces with a hot iron and lots of steam-I've had that same problem when the glue isn't completely melted.
I've never embroidered with wool before so I can't help. However, it's looking fantastic so far. I hope someone will know what to do about the sticky needle.
All the wool work I have done has been thread or pin basted, so I'm afraid I am no help. Cute project though, it will be worth the effort!
That Steam-a-Seam sounds like a pain in the proverbial. Cute project though, Laura.
This piece is great. I think your free-hand vines look very pretty.
Love your pumpkins! Have you used a steam iron on the pumpkins? I think that it can work, perhaps, maybe, I´m not sure! Good luck if you try it :)
What cute pumpkins! Unfortunately I have never sewed wool, but I imagine the difficulty, with the needle sticking ...
Hugs, Carmela
what a lovely seasonal piece ^^
Great table runner. Love the pumpkins. Sorry for the 'problems' but keep with it - its wonderful :)
Clover makes a white pen for marking on dark fabric. I've used it for many years with great results. It irons off after you've stitched over it.
