One Nation

I lost about a week of stitching waiting for my pearl cotton to be shipped, but I've made good progress on One Nation.  I finished all the stripes and have started on the stars.

I am doing the stars in a straight stitch with pearl cotton instead of cross stitching them.  The method I am using is much faster than cross stitching them, but I am not sure if I like the look of it any better.  If I chose to cross stitched them all, this piece would take many more hours and might never be completed.  As it stands now, I could have a finish by next reporting time.

To see what others in the group are working on:  Avis, Claire, Gun, Carole, Sue, Constanze, Christina, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Heidi, Jackie, Sunny, Hayley, Megan, Deborah, Mary Margaret, Renee, Carmela, Sharon, Daisy, Anne, Connie, AJ, Jenny, Laura, Cathie, Linda, Helen

I love this piece! It will be fun to see the final look with straight stitch. I bet it looks great.

A very creative way to deal with those stars. What size perle cotton are you using?

that close-up photo really gives an idea od scale. I didn't realise how big this piece was!

I like your straight stitch stars instead of cross stitch. It'll mean you'll have a unique project as well :-)

I actually think that the straight stitching makes the stars stand out. What a great change!

I think it´s a great idea to skip the cross stitches and do the straight stitches instead! Looking so good!

As others have said, I think the straight stitches really make the stars stand out. I do hate waiting for threads -- but you'd never know you lost a week of time with all of your progress!

I think your stars will make your piece more interesting than all the others that get stitched according to directions. You'll probably like it as well as we do after some time has passed. :-)

I like your stars. You are almost done. Maybe in time for July 4th?
