End of the Rainbow

The RSC color this month was blue, but the colors I needed to use to finish End of the Rainbow were pink and purple.  So I used pink and purple scraps this month instead of blue, keeping the to the spirit of RSC, if not the color.  I want to get this quilt finished ASAP so that my boss can hang in it the shop.  It still has to be quilted and bound, so it will be about 4 weeks until it is completely done.

Crumb piecing these blocks took a lot of time. If I ever make this quilt again, I will piece the scraps into 3 inch strips instead of piecing 9 1/2 inch blocks and cutting the blocks into rectangles the way the pattern dictates.  I ended up with a lot of very bulky seams that could have been more easily avoided if I had gone with my gut and just pieced strips.

I am pretty happy with the way this quilt is turning out.  I found a cream wide backing in my stash that will work for this quilt.  My next decision is to choose the longarmer.  I am not sure why this decision is so difficult for me! There are four longarmers that I use on a regular basis, and I have been happy with 99% of the quilts they have done for me.  I just want to chose the right one.

End of the Rainbow is 75"x75".
