Last week I worked on Daybreak. I've gotten all of the half blocks together, and it is on my design wall. The 1 1/2 inch border on every block took a lot of time: Three seams, and every 1 1/2 inch piece had to be trimmed at an angle after sewing. Not hard, just time-consuming. I am not going to have the jagged edge on this quilt because, jagged or not, I would end up paying the longarmer for the quilting that would fill the blank spaces. My next challenge will be figuring our what size triangle fills the blank space since the space is bigger than my super side kick ruler can cut.
The latest Stars Around the Corner clue came out last week, and I'm about half way done with those blocks. I also signed up for another of Kathy Shaw's crazy quilting classes, so I've started working on my crazy quilting again. I should have a lot to share next week, but right now the dust in my house is getting thick enough to write in. Time to clean, not sew!

I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with to square this quilt up. I am making two baby quilts. I tried making up a extra block and cutting it to fit, but it looked weird too many oddly shaped pieces. I'm going to try to make a template from that block and use it to cut a similar "shape" from white, which is my narrow border color.
These look awesome!
I love this layout! So pretty! Great job! :)
It's wonderful sewing outside our comfort zone, thats how we learn and grow. Lovely blocks, your colour placement looks great. I always love navy and aqua.
I wanted to let you know I figured out the measurements of the triangle pieces to square up Daybreak. Cut a rectangle that is 5 ½ by 10 ½ and cut it on the diagonal, opposite corner to corner. The resulting triangles will square up the corners of the quilt top. I think if you were to add them to the ends of the columns, you would save yourself doing an inset seam for the parts in-between the stars. HTH
