The next task in my crazy quilting class was to create a basic surface embroidery motif. I wanted to find something Halloween-themed, but I found that most of the vintage patterns online were either too detailed for a small space or too cutesy for me. I ended up embroidering a pumpkin, but by using 6 colors, it ended up looking more like a beach ball than a pumpkin. The addition of tendrils helped, but it needed something more. That's when I decided to turn my beach ball into a jack-o-lantern. The addition of a face takes some of the attention away from my unfortunate color choices.

I only noticed the beach ball effect after you mentioned it. I think the face definitely takes your attention away from the colour changes.
I'm liking all of the organic shapes and curves you've been using in this crazy quilting class, and the tendrils add to that.
I think you are being a bit too hard on yourself. The overall effect is gradation, and it's lovely!
That is so cute. I had to look closely to see what you meant by the beach ball. I think you did a great job on it!
I love the jack-o-lantern, had I not read the post I would have thought it was planned, I love the colors it gives it a unique quality.
I don't see beach ball at all. That looks like a really great jack-o'lantern.
What a great pumpkin! Love it!
