Long before I became a quilter, I was a cross stitcher. So in addition to the dozens of cross stitch pictures hanging on my walls, I have many more in a chest. Framing them all is just too expensive, and I haven't the wall space for all of them. I also have small cross stitch pieces that I have turned into needlebooks, scissor fobs, pinkeeps, and pincushions. But I have many more that are sitting unfinished in drawers, just waiting to be finished. Last week I finished one of them into a pinkeep:
This is a Victoria Sampler Beyond Cross Stitch kit. These little kits are designed to teach specialty stitches. Herringbone is the stitch in this little piece. I was going to give this to a friend of mine for her birthday, but I decided that she isn't a stitcher, so she might not 'get' needlework smalls.

Sew cute! Those also make great centers for mini quilts.
