This is Bonnie Hunter's pattern from Scraps & Shirttails II. I chose this pattern because I didn't have a great variation in shirts, and they are surprisingly expensive in the second hand stores around here. I found they ran from $2.99 to $8.99 in the thrift stores. That seems kind of expensive to me for used clothing. I had several shirts from my husband, brother and BIL, but I would have chosen a different pattern if I'd had many different colors of shirts.
I did see a bunch of 100% cotton scrubs in bright colors that I almost bought. They would have made a great baby quilt. I may go back and buy those!
Every time I finish a top, someone asks me who it is for. I'm not sure who is getting this one. Maybe one of the men who donated his shirts to the cause.

I love your quilt, I have been hoarding shirts from my husband and sons for the same purpose, but haven't even started on a quilt top. Will be pinning this to inspire me :)
Oh I feel so lucky after reading your post. I get clothes from our thrift store for 10-30 cents each. I think others have caught on so there aren't as many as when I first started collecting. If I go to the "expensive" thrift store, they are $2 each. I have made several quilts now with recycled fabric-mostly Bonnie Hunter designs and they are always the softest quilts ever!! They feel so loved.
Love-love-love this! Great color palette, very effective!
It must feel good to make a totally recycled quilt. All those pretty corners match up nice.
Fabulous quilt! I'm a softie for thrifted shirt quilts (made 4 so far, and I'm sure there are more in the future). You are right about thrifted shirts being kind of expensive. I hit the 50% off days at the thrifts when I'm looking. There is an annual charity flea market here that has a "fill a bag" for $5 day on the last day of the market, and that's been a good deal. I heard a fellow shirt collector say she cut one sleeve from every shirt she found to trade among friends. Maybe one of us shirt-loving quilters could organize a swap.
I really really like this quilt! I haven't done a shirt quilt yet but have been buying a few here and there.I don't get any from my husband because we live on a farm and they become workshirts until they are threadbare! I would be up for a swap if anyone starts one up!

I am a new follower too :)
Congratulations on this really amazing finish!
Secondhand shirt are expensive here too! Mostly 4,50 euros apiece! That is about 6 US dollars, girls! For that money I prefer buying new regular cotton and it saves me lots of cutting!!!
