Week 19, PoD Block

Harry's wand is the block I chose for this week.  I have about 10 more blocks to make, and I think a lot of them will be blocks of books. 

Scrappy Mountain Majesties, Top Done

I finished my second Scrappy Mountain Majesties top yesterday.  This is a free Bonnie Hunter pattern and goes together quickly.

The whole thing is made from old shirts, so the material is very soft.    I am not sure yet who will get this one.  It is 71 1/2" by 59".

Week 18, PoD Block

This week's block is the snitch sitting on books.  This is the fourth time I have made this block, and this was the first time it went together easily.

Fall Layer Cake

I put together this Fall Layer Cake quilt last December.  Today I got the borders on it.

I like it a lot better with the borders, and now it is a useable size:  64" x 73".  I have no plans to get it quilted any time soon, but it will be good to have if I need a quilt for a man or boy.

Week 17, PoD Block

This week I made the sherry bottle block.  The books are a perfect place to use ugly fabric! 

Design Wall Monday

I started making Bonnie Hunter's Dawn's Early Light blocks in the summer of 2016.  It has been a work in slow progress since then, and has spend a lot of time idle the past 2 years.  Yesterday I pulled the blocks out and put them on my design wall.  I have decided to do a slightly different layout than the pattern suggests because I want to minimize bulky seams.  Here's where I am now:

I had forgotten how many different neutral scraps I used up in these blocks.

It makes me happy to see all these fabrics again.  I can remember when I bought some of them.  I can remember who gave me others.   Putting this top together shouldn't take me that long.

Week 16, PoD Block

This week's PoD block is just books.  I'm not thrilled with the colors I chose, but they will be ok when I add them to the other blocks.
