Sew Many Strips Again, Top Completed

I got my batik Sew Many Strips Again quilt finished yesterday afternoon.

I struggled with the border and then ended up putting the first side on backwards.  Instead of ripping it off, I improvised.  My version is not perfect, but perfect enough for me.  I am glad to have this one done before Bonnie Hunter's mystery starts!

I still have a lot of batiks left but not enough variety to make a good scrappy quilt.

Bram Bones Top Finished

I just got the borders on Bram Bones, a Halloween wall hanging.  The white inner border on mine is supposed to be two 1/2" wide borders.  There was no way I would be able to get 1/2" borders straight and consistent, so I just did one 1" border. My final border is a little wider than  the pattern called for too.

I don't really like fusible applique,  but  I used it for this project and did a straight stitch around the inside of the horseman.  I am planning to have my longarmer quilt right over the top of him to help hold him down.  This is going to be a wall hanging, so it won't often be washed.

Sew Many Strips Again

Last spring I made my first Sew Many Strips quilt.

I have made a lot of scrap quilts, but this is one of my favorite scrap patterns ever.  The cutting and sewing are both easy since all of the interior blocks are the same.  Most of the seams nest when the pressing directions are followed.  You can use a controlled palette, or a hodgepodge of scraps, and both variations of the quilt are beautiful.  I belong to a Facebook group for this pattern, so I have seen a lot of these quilts, and I've liked every one.

This summer while I was cutting batik scraps for Falling Stars, I also cut out another Sew Many Strips quilt.  So far the top has gone together quickly.  I have two more rows, and then the center will be done.

I was hoping to use up all my batik scraps.  That didn't happen, but I've made a big dent.
