Falling Stars, Top Complete

It took me all morning and part of the afternoon, but I got Falling Stars together today.  It feels weird to have my November OMG done so early in the month!  Here it is:

This top is all batiks.  The dark colors are all from my stash and scraps.  Some of the lights were purchased just for this top.  I wanted to have a good variety of lights, and, for some reason, I tend to buy only medium and dark batiks.

I still have plenty of batiks in my stash.  I recently cut out another batik quilt (Sew Many Strips) that I will probably use as a leader and ender project.  Let's see if I can keep up the momentum and finish another UFO this month!

Witch's Night Out

I would have finished this quilt  well before Halloween, but my recent hospital stay, slowed me down.  I'm finally feeling well enough to sew.  This morning, I got Witch's Night Out bound.

I am very happy with the way this one turned out!

I wanted to use the yellow broom fabric as the backing, but my LQS didn't have enough.  I bought all there was left on the bolt and pieced a pumpkin strip on the back to give my longarmer the 8 inches extra she would need to attach the backing to the frame.

Denise Zapf did  the longarming, and she did an excellent job of keeping my pieced back straight (my picture is crooked).    I asked for an all over spider web pattern.

One Monthly Goal, November

There is only one logical goal for me in November.  I need to get Falling Stars off my design wall!  Bonnie Hunter's new mystery will be starting in November, and I want this one off my plate before that.  It won't take that long, but as I've said before, sewing blocks into rows and columns in my least favorite part of the whole quilting process.

There are 10 rows in this quilt, and I already have 8 of them together.  Five of the rows are sewn to each other, so I really only have a little over half to go.  I should easily be able to finish this task unless I get thrown another curve ball.  The latest news:  I just spent the last 5 days in the hospital with colitis, possibly related to my chemo.   Colitis is very painful.  I've had 2 natural childbirths, and I would say it ranks up there with labor pains.  The GI doctor says it will take 2-3 weeks to fully recover.  Today I'm too sick to sew, which is a sad place to be!
