Stash Report, May Gypsy Wife Blocks

I managed to get my May Gypsy Wife blocks done today with 6 hours to spare!

I used scraps and a few pieces of the German fabric Dane sent me this week.  I was curious to see what all my blocks would look like together.

I think I need more red, blue, and purple.  I was surprised at how much yellow I had already used.

Used This Week: 1.375 yard (table runner and RR)
Used Year to Date: 48.75yards
Added this week: 0 yards  ( I only count what I buy, so Dane's gift doesn't count.)

Bunko on the Porch

I haven't done any real quilting this week, but I'm hosting bunko tonight and wanted to make my tables look pretty,  so I made a tablecloth and  pad  out of leftover fabrics from the swing cushions.  I cut the tablecloth the size of the table top plus as much drop on both sides as I wanted.  Then I lopped off all 4 corners to get an octagon shape and hemmed  eight sides.  Easy!

We will be rolling dice on the table, so I made a pad.  Otherwise the dice would be bouncing all  over.  I did some straight line quilting and then just zig-zagged around the edge.  I was in a hurry:  no time to bind.

In other quilting news, Dane sent me quilting fabric all the way from Germany!

Look how bright and summery they are!  I can't wait to find the perfect project for them.  Thanks, Dane!

Making History II

My sewing and blogging have slowed down tremendously because I was at my mom's house last week.  Before I went, I got some of the second Making History quilt done.

This is going to be a big quilt, queen sized.  I've done a few more of the white blocks.  I do have a problem with this quilt:  the pinwheels in the center of the blocks do not all turn in the same direction.
It doesn't bother me enough to change them, so they will stay that way.

I fear I won't get my Gypsy Wife blocks done for May, but I finished my part of my current quilt RR.  That is supposed to be super secret until The Big Reveal, so no pictures.  I don't understand wanting the quilt to be a surprise.  I like seeing the progress and being able to associate each round with a certain quilter.  I like to see what all the other quilts look like too as more and more people work on them.  But I'm keeping my opinions to myself and keeping the project secret. I actually finished this early as I don't need to send it out until mid June.

Stash Report

I intended to make another table runner this week, so I bought a half yard of fabric.  I never got to sew it, though because my dad fell and ended up in the hospital with a concussion, broken bones in his face, and a cut eye.  He also has a bladder infection and fever.  His iron and potassium are low.  He is weak and unable to walk on his own.  My brothers and sisters and I are taking turns sitting with him 24 hours a day, so my mom can get some rest. My dad has dementia and doesn't understand why he has to stay in bed. He is very agitated.  I came down to help today after my sister went home.  This is when I am really glad I have seven brothers and sisters!

Used This Week: 0 yard
Used Year to Date: 47.375yards
Added this week: 0.5 yards
Added year to date: 44.125 yards
 Net Used: 3.25 yards

Torah Stitch by Stitch

I finished my portion of the Torah Stitch by Stitch Project last Sunday and sent it back today.  I had verses from Exodus 20:20-23.  Someone who knows Hebrew will double check my work to be sure all the words are spelled correctly.

This was an easy stitch on 14 count aida, but I am not a fan of stitching with 3 strands.  The verses were all charted out. The vine at the bottom is from Time and Season by Moria Blackburn.

Table Runner

Just from looking at my blog, you would think I haven't been quilting or cross stitching much, but I finished one small project this week, and I'm very close to having a couple more done.  One of them, my brother's wedding quilt, needs to be finished this weekend.  Like tomorrow.  Because I'm going down there Sunday, and it needs a binding and a label before I give it to them.

Here's the only thing I finished this week.  It is called the 10 minute table runner, but it took me at least a half hour plus time to sew on the buttons.  I spent most of the time trying to get the fusible fleece to stick.

I got the pattern from my LQS, but there are many variations free online.  Linking up with Finish It Up Friday  http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2014/05/even-more-scrap-projects.html
